In the blog post, they stated several changes that are to be made in the latest update of the popular suite. Microsoft is no longer supporting a version of office for 10 years as customary, instead, they are decreasing it to 7 years – 5 years mainstream and 2 years extended. This meaning the end of extended support for Office 2019 will be October 14th, 2025. This also happens to be the same date as the EOS end date for Office 2016. When explaining the need for change Microsoft said that “As the pace of change accelerates, it has become imperative to move our software to a more modern cadence.”
Its also mentioned in the statement made by Microsoft that Office 2019 will be released with “Click-to-Run” technology only, scrapping the MSI support.
Not everyone is happy about this chance so it seems. Some IT professionals feel as though Microsoft is pushing people towards subscription-based Office 365. This update will be put into place in the second half of 2018, but however, the Windows 10 support restriction only applies to the Windows OS, so Mac users do not need to worry.
